What would we do if driving ourselves to innovate, take chances, etc. didn't mean we would attract women? Things I think will find a way, say like they did in the Paleolithic. Which didn't mean the same relationship organization as today (or say the 50s). It's not necessarily a bad thing, certainly not for alpha males. But, times they are a changin'
I think it is fair to point out that the upper middle class is doing just fine, actually they're divorcing less then they were say 20 or 30 years ago. As seems to often happen with all the societal changes related, largely, to the 60s time period, the changes hurt disproportionately the poor. Who don't have all the other social (and financial) advantages that wealthier people have. Even if you are the relatively unlikely girl to get pregnant in high school, while going to a suburban high school in the US, you probably have a family to lean on. The inner city girl often doesn't. Etc. But, both girls/women have the same bombardment of social signals that say, go for it.
