That and hospital reimbursement, etc. That's apparently is what we pay too much on health care seemingly. I didn't realize that "We spend fewer per capita days in the hospital compared with other advanced countries, we see the doctor less frequently, and we swallow fewer pills". That's a shock, I wonder about the source of the data for that statement. Not impossible, but just surprising.
And yet all we hear about is cutting the number of procedures, pills, etc. when it comes to cutting costs in health care. Don't get me wrong I think at some point we'll have to cut the amount of money we pay the doctors and hospitals per procedure, visit, etc. But, given how many doctors don't take Medicare, and especially Medicaid patients because of the reimbursement rate, I don't know what that means in the long run. As long as doctor's graduate with a quarter million of debt, I don't see how we can cut their reimbursement drastically. Besides, I want some of our best and brightest becoming doctors.
